Plummers is a bistro and cafe in the historic market town of Ringwood on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire. With our Function room we can also cater for Private Parties, business meetings, anniversaries, birthdays and much more... |
Ringwood is mentioned in the Domesday book - 955 AD RIMUCWUDE which translates into the Rim of the Forest. Slowly the town grew until in 1226 King Henry III granted the Lord of the Manor the right to hold a market in Ringwood on Wednesdays, which, of course, still occurs today. Ringwood became nationally famous in 1685 when the Duke of Monmouth was imprisoned in the house of that name in West Street, after he had been captured in the Horton area following his disastrous defeat at the Battle of Sedgemoor.
Plummer Bistro and Cafe at 35 High Street, is a grade II listed building, originally built in 1760 as a private house. It was converted to shops during the 19th Century and up to 1916 traded as ‘Olliffes Tea Rooms’.../read more history
